What to expect

Accessible PDF forms without switching tools

Forms are among the most demanding documents when it comes to PDF accessibility, and until now they almost always required a second program. With the new forms feature, you can create form fields directly in Microsoft Word and export them as an accessible PDF form. In this free online seminar, we walk you through the entire process.

axesWord: the Word add-in for accessible PDFs and PDF forms

axesWord is an add-in for Microsoft Word that lets you turn your Word documents into fully compliant PDFs according to PDF/UA and WCAG in just a few clicks, with no post-editing in the PDF. With the new forms feature, this now also applies to interactive PDF forms, which you can create and maintain entirely in Word.

Training concept

Using a sample form, we go through every step together: from inserting the fields and configuring them to the finished PDF. Along the way, we explain why each setting matters for accessibility and how it affects the PDF, so you can apply what you learn to your own forms.

Key topics

  • The new Forms tab in axesWord
  • Inserting form fields: text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, drop-down lists, list boxes and digital signatures
  • Configuring properties: field name, tooltip, size, colors, borders and font size
  • Assigning form field labels correctly so screen readers can recognize the context
  • Document-wide form settings for consistent forms
  • From Word placeholder to interactive PDF form field on export
  • Checking the finished form for PDF/UA compliance

Target audience

  • Anyone who creates forms in Word and wants to provide them as accessible PDFs
  • All axesWord users who want to get to know the new forms feature
